Difference between anechoic rooms and semi anechoic rooms
Release Date:2020-07-31

Anechoic rooms is generally divided into anechoic rooms and semi anechoic rooms. Both these two kinds of laboratory are very common. So what is the difference between them?

Full anechoic chambers have six sound absorbing surfaces. That is to say, the six surfaces are covered with sound-absorbing wedges, including the ground. In order to facilitate the experiment, a ground grid was laid above the wedge on the ground. All six surfaces are sound absorption surfaces, which is the characteristic of a complete anechoic chamber.

Xiaomi Technology's full anechoic room, the ground is paved with wedges and ground grid.

In the semi anechoic chambers, only five surfaces are sound absorption surfaces. The five surfaces except the ground are paved with sound absorption wedges. The floor of semi anechoic rooms is a reflective surface. We usually use epoxy floor or vitrified brick which has good reflection effect to make the ground.

The ground of the Semi anechoic chamber for Global-Standard Testing is reflective surface lain with tile.

The selection of full anechoic chamber and semi anechoic chamber depends mainly on the tested products and the test standards adopted. If you don't know whether the room you need is a full anechoic room or a semi anechoic room, you can tell the test requirements to a professional acoustic laboratory company like Fund Acoustics, who will make further judgment for you.
